- Move between columns of this display by pressing the
- Tab or Shift-Tab keys. To move the cursor in each
- column, use the Up arrow, Down arrow, PgDn, or PgUp
- keys. The F1 key can be pressed to display a help
- screen for editing information. The other columns
- of this chart are explained in the next section of
- this manual.
-
- Players can be added to teams at any time. Do not
- skip any rows when entering the player names. If
- you have 12 players on the team, then the first 12
- rows must have names.
-
- The Enter, Up arrow, down arrow, tab, or shift-tab
- keys must be pressed after each player name is
- entered. When you have finished entering the player
- names, press ESCape. You will be asked if you want
- to save the player information before returning to
- the NAMES MENU.
-
- 4-4 PLAYERS - REVISE NAME/SUPERDATA/TEXT FILE
- The player information entered with the previous
- selection of this menu can be revised at any time
- with this selection. First select the team. The
- chart from the previous page will be displayed. You
- can not delete players with this selection. Players
- are deleted with another selection of this menu.
-
- Move between columns by pressing either tab or
- shift-tab. To move the cursor in each column, use
- the up arrow, down arrow, PgUp or PgDn keys. Press
- the F1 key to display a help screen for editing
- information.
-
- The I.D. may be up to 10 letters long. Each player
- should have a different I.D. such as their uniform
- numbers or position. If you do not want to use an
- I.D. code, leave this column empty.
-
- The ASCII Text column displays the DOS filename of
- personal messages for specific individual player
- reports. Messages may be up to 10 lines long. A
- filename is automatically entered if one is not
- displayed. Press Alt-T when the cursor is on the
- player row to access a text editor. Text files are
- saved on the data diskette or in the data
- subdirectory. Pressing Alt-D deletes the file name
- so the file will not print on the reports.
-
- When player reports are printed, the data
- subdirectory or data diskette is checked to see if a
- matching ASCII file exists. If the file exists, and
- the proper setting is made on the Miscellaneous
- Settings Sub-Menu of the SET UP menu, the
- information is included on the player report.
-
- SuperData is another way to organize reports. For
- example, if the word starter was entered for all
- starting players, you would be able to print reports
- for just starters. The program checks for SuperData
- matches in either column when selecting players.
-
- 4-5, 4-6 PRINT OUT PLAYER NAMES - LIST/GRID
- Selection 4 prints out one team. Selection 5 prints
- out all teams. This selection prints out a player
- list/grid with a set of boxes. The boxes will be
- printed in either 10 or 12 pitch. The pitch (cpi) is
- set on Miscellaneous Settings Sub-Menu of the SET UP
- menu.
-
-
- 4-7 DELETE ALL PLAYERS/STATISTICS - ONE TEAM
- All information about a team can be deleted with
- this selection.
-
- First select the number of the team. The current
- team name will be displayed. Below the team name
- you must enter the word DELETE.
-
- By entering the word DELETE, all information about
- the team, including all players, and all statistics
- will be removed. Use this selection with great
- care.
-
- SET UP MENU
-
- 5-1 REVISE/REVIEW USER DEFINED COLUMN TITLES
- Four columns have been reserved for you to keep
- track of statistics important for you. For example,
- minutes played could by kept in one of the columns.
- When this selection is made, you can revise the name
- of the column heading for the print outs. This
- column will total the numbers entered for each game.
-
- The second column provides a two letter abbreviation
- to be displayed and printed. For example, Minutes
- Played could use the abbreviation Mi or MP. Use the
- Tab key to move back and forth between the columns.
- Press ESCape when you have finished substituting
- your titles. Then you can save these new headings.
-
- 5-2 CHANGE MISCELLANEOUS SETTINGS
- When this selection is made, another screen of
- settings is displayed. Use the up and down arrows
- to move between settings. These settings further
- customize BASKETBALL STATS POWER. Press the letter
- Y for Yes or N for No. The program ignores settings
- that do not apply to your equipment. Press ESCape
- when you have finished your settings. Then you can
- save these settings.
-
- 5-2-1 INCLUDE PERSONAL MESSAGE ON INDIVIDUAL REPORTS
- If Yes is selected, personal messages to selected
- players can be printed on the individual reports.
- This message, up to ten lines long is stored in the
- player directory or on the player data diskette.
- The file name is listed in the ASCII text file
- column of the Revise Name/SuperData/Text File chart
- viewed with the NAMES MENU.
-
- 5-2-2 INCLUDE COMMON MESSAGE ON INDIVIDUAL REPORTS
- If Yes is selected, the common message entered on
- the RECORD MENU will be printed on all individual
- player reports.
-
- 5-2-3 INCLUDE COMMON MESSAGE ON TEAM REPORTS
- If Yes is selected, the common message entered on
- the RECORD MENU will be printed on all team reports.
-
- 5-2-4 USE RIBBON SAVE OPTION FOR SUPPORTED PRINT OUTS
- The ribbon save feature is useful when printing the
- player list/grid on the NAMES MENU. If No is selected,
- all 17 rows of the grid will be printed. If Yes is
- selected, only one extra row is printed.
-
- 5-2-5 USE 12 PITCH FOR PRINTING BASKETBALL REPORTS
- If Yes is selected, reports will be printed in 12
- pitch. If No is selected, your reports will be
- printed using 10 pitch (characters per inch).
-
- 5-2-6 SET YOUR PRINTER TO LETTER QUALITY
- If Yes is selected, reports will be printed bold.
- If No is selected, your reports will be printed
- using regular draft.
-
- 5-2-7 DOES YOUR PRINTER SUPPORT LINE DRAW CHARACTERS
- This setting is used to print the player list/grid.
- If the wrong setting is made a series of weird or
- foreign language characters are printed for the
- vertical lines. If No is selected, regular
- characters (dashes, the plus sign, and vertical bar)
- are substituted for the line drawing characters.
-
- For LaserJet printers, an attempt is made to use the
- PC-8 character set which supports line drawing. The
- default set of the LaserJet printer (Roman-8) does
- not support the line drawing characters. The best
- way to find the correct setting for a compatible
- printer is to print a sample list/grid on the NAMES
- MENU.
-
- 5-2-8 USE ONE DIRECTION PRINTING FOR PLAYER LIST/GRID
- When set to Yes, the printer is set to print lines
- always starting at the left side of the paper. This
- makes a neater print out, but also increases the
- time to print the report. This setting only affects
- the lines drawn for player list/grid print outs.
-
- 5-2-9 USE LARGE SQUARES FOR PLAYER LIST/GRID
- When set to Yes, a grid of ten larger squares will
- be printed after the player name. If No is
- selected, a set of twelve smaller squares will be
- printed.
-
- 5-2-10 IGNORE CHECKING FOR PRINTER STATUS
- BASKETBALL STATS POWER always checks the status of
- the parallel printer port before sending any data.
- This normally works quite well. You may experience
- problems if you map a parallel port to a serial one
- by the MODE command, or if you have a non-standard,
- or very fast computer. The program might actually
- think that your printer port (LPT1:) is busy when
- you know it is not. If you have printer problems
- like this, press Y for Yes to ignore the printer
- status.
-
- A laser printer always ignores the printer status.
-
- 5-3 CHANGING SCREEN COLORS
- Screen colors may be changed to your personal
- preference, or because the regular colors may be
- hard to see on a lap top.
-
- Up to 127 color combinations may be used by
- BASKETBALL STATS POWER. When this selection is
- made, a chart showing the 127 color combinations and
- their associated numbers is displayed.
-
- The default values for screen colors are listed
- below. The first column is for color monitors. The
- second column is used for monochrome monitors. You
- may enter different numbers from the displayed
- chart:
-
- Color Monochrome
- Normal Screen Color: 023 007
- Help Screen Color: 113 007
- Pull Down Menu Color: 043 112
- Error Color: 079 112
- Text Entry Color: 112 007
- Menu Selection Color: 007 007
-
- When you have finished entering the color numbers,
- press ESCape. Then press a number for the mouse
- cursor color. The (1-7) number refers to the chart
- column. For example 4 represents red. Some menu
- selections deliberately turn the mouse cursor off to
- prevent accidental loss of data. The mouse cursor
- is turned back on when appropriate. Then press Y
- for Yes to save these changes.
-
-
- Alt-B and Alt-C can also be used when the program
- first starts to change the screen colors.
-
- 5-4 PRINTER SELECTION
- The following printers are currently supported by
- BASKETBALL STATS POWER. Others may have been added
- after this manual was printed.

- printers. If your printer is not listed, check your
- printer manual for the proper setting. Other
- printers may be supported in future versions of
- BASKETBALL STATS POWER.
-
- After selecting a printer, the name of the printer
- will be displayed on the SET UP MENU.
